Bringing Concerts to Life
For three years I was a member of the University of Arkansas’ Headliners Concert Committee, serving as Committee Chairman in 2017/2018.
As chair, I secured the committee’s largest-ever budget in order to produce the University’s highest-attended non-athletic event. Roughly 10,000 students attended our Springtime of Youth music festival headlined by Galantis, Bleachers, and Lil Dicky.
Responsibilities
As chairman, I was tasked with assembling a committee of 12 students and planning the concert from start to finish. I oversaw the booking of talent, site planning, construction, security, artist relations, vendor management, and more.
For the 2016 / 2017 school year, I personally oversaw all marketing including social media and print advertisement. This included personally designing a festival poster for the show.
Marketing
Another responsibility as chairman was to sit on the University’s Programs Allocations Board. This board is comprised of students from seven student organizations tasked with the disbursement of funds from the student activities fee included in each tuition credit. For 2017 / 2018 the funding pool was around 1.6 million dollars, of which I successfully lobbied for 600 thousand. To my knowledge, this remains the highest budget ever allocated to a student organization for a school year.
